Pre-Owned Tokai MIJ TTE-70 BreezySound - Pink Paisley - 1985

What an absolutely stunning guitar this is! Besides the obviously amazing finish, this is also a fantastic playing and sounding guitar.

As far as we can tell it is all original other than the strap buttons and the bridge plate & saddles - which have been changed out for a more modern style 6 saddle set up. This helps with string height and intonation massively and could be put back to original easily should the parts be available. No extra holes seem to have been drilled for this.

The serial number puts this as a 1985 based on what we can see. All the pots and switch appear original and correct for the era. All electronics work well with no crackling. The sweep on the volume pot is rather blunt - the beginning and end of the taper are very fast and most of it's travel sounds like 50%. Again as this seems original we have opted to keep it as so. It does lend its self to pedal steel type swells very well being like this though!

The pickups check out to be era appropriate Tokai pickups and sound lovely. The bridge is hot and bites nicely, the neck is fat yet articulate sounding. The combination of pickups together in the middle position has a lovely scooped almost acoustic sound. Internal pictures at the end of the photos.

There is some fret wear - especially on the lowest frets but nothing that causes choking. The nut is very low which makes it an absolute breeze to play, but can sound slightly rattly on open chords when played hard acoustically. When amplified all notes ring well. As it stands this works well for me, but may not suit a heavy player straight out the gate! As this could be somewhat preferential we have opted to keep it original.

The truss rod works very well in both directions, although fairly tight when increasing back bow. This is currently set up with 9-42 strings.
