A bit about us...
We are Jess & Woody, also known as "The Hippos" - although that took some getting used to.
We opened Hippo Guitars in October 2022, our own little world of guitars - done the way we want!
We are predominantly a second-hand shop, with a focus on providing the best examples of ~fairly~ affordable guitars -although we do like to dip our toes into the high end stuff occasionally!
Second hand will always be our heart and soul, but we can't always promise we'll have one of everything! To remedy this we work with some fantastic suppliers to ensure we've always got a selection of gear for sale that we truly believe in.

Why go Pre-Owned?
The advantages of second-hand are almost endless. Better value, better for the environment, often better quality, as well as the cool stories an old instrument can tell.
We're big fans of anything pre-owned or vintage - but we can completely understand that it can seem a little more daunting than getting a brand new piece of gear.
We aim to take all the worry out of buying pre-loved, by offering pre-vetted gear, that plays well, works as it should and can be enjoyed for many more years to come.
All of the used items we list for sale are tested and inspected before we buy them. Guitars are then serviced and set up to a general level before we put them out for sale. If it won't set up to level that matches the price, we won't sell it!
We offer warranties and after sales support on all our used goods too!
