These stripped down versions could be dropped in place of most conventional IC op amps (those black 8 leg microchip looking things you often see in pedals) and the result was a much more open sound that responded better to playing dynamics. Once i realised they worked, the very first thing I asked myself was \"I wonder if I could build a klon with these!?\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThus began a decade long journey to build and perfect the discrete op amp Klon. The first step was to strip down the original circuit to it's core elements, and then rebuild it around the DOA's. Each revision got one step closer to, but it wasn't until a few months ago that i finally cracked it!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\"Simon, there are soooooOOOOOOoooooo many Klones out there now, why do we need another one!?\" This isn't 'Yet Another Klone', this is more like a Klon 'style' drive. It is to the Klon what my \"Hot Toddy\" is to the Timmy, and what the \"Nightingale Drive\" is to the Bluesbreaker. The tone is much more open; there is a much softer, less nasal mid hump; it responds better to playing dynamics; the higher gain tones are smoother and richer\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\"Why shouldn't I get one of the many Klones for well £100!?\" Honestly, if you've never tried a Klone before, i highly recommend the Mosky version.
